Zowel grappig als duister, deze Finse cover van het nummer “They’re coming to take me away, haha“, waarin hoofdpersonage Napoleon XIV compleet waanzinnig in het gesticht wordt opgenomen omdat hij het niet kan verkroppen dat zijn vrouw is weggelopen. Volgens een andere interpretatie zou de waanzin van Napoleon XIV zodanig vergevorderd zijn dat hij zich in het nummer eigenlijk tot een denkbeeldige hond richt in plaats van zijn vrouw. Een interpretatie die wordt ondersteund door de hoes van de plaat, waarop een Napoleonfiguur op sandalen een onzichtbare hond uitlaat.
Het oorspronkelijke nummer werd geschreven door de Amerikaan Jerry Samuels en dateert uit 1966. Een tijdje geleden werd een nieuwe versie gemaakt vanuit het standpunt van de weggelopen vrouw, Josephine XV, getiteld “I’m happy they took you away, haha”. Een mooi voorbeeld van hoe elke situatie vanuit verschillende invalshoeken kan worden bekeken, met soms een heel ander “verhaal” tot gevolg.
In bovenstaande videoclip zie je de Finse acteur Esko Salminen aan het werk, die de waanzin en hysterie van het hoofdpersonage bijzonder overtuigend weet neer te zetten.
